My very first sketch crawl
So I had my own sketch crawl -it was in my backyard - I am still learning to KISS when sketching. Today I learned two very important lessons for me. I will have to remember them and practice them.
Lesson #1. Sketch foreground to background ink does not erase.
Lesson #2. Stop long before I think I should or am ready to.
(lesson #3 look at calendar before dating work all were done today, 6-21-08 whoops!)
I also realized that if I hurry up and fill my first Sketchbook/Journal I can put it up on a high shelf forget the bad remember the lessons and start working on a new one -- That is motivating and something to look forward to.
I also learned just because I know how to draw does not mean I know how to sketch. But I'm learning ---

Super, especially those lilies! I like the lessons you learned. I need to learn them also. KISS, yes, and I keep forgetting that foreground to background bit.
What a picturesque backyard you have, is that a lake? Mine is little and very suburban. Great sketches, you’ve reminded me that every picture is a new lesson to learn.
Oooh, these are lovely results...very lush and fresh and GREEN...I love looking at them:)
Nice soft color and a good eye for composition- especially like the bottom picture. It makes me want to sit down and explore. Looks like my daughter would like to build a fairy house there....
These are lovely! You have inspired me to get outside with my sketchbook more often :)
I like these a lot...good way to study nature!
Thanks all for the nice comments to Arum girl Yes it is a lake I live half way up the side of a very steep ancient mountain (now an Oklahoma hill) overlooking Lake Eufaula -
This was my first visit to your blog. Both your writing style and illustrated journal are charming!
