Gram's Barn for Ashley & Lars

This is the pastel I have been working on it is about 17" x 11" on Wallis paper. It is a gift for my son Lars and his wife Ashley.

Lars and Ashley were married in a lovely outdoor ceremony on April 12th 2008, not 100 yards away from this magnificent old Kentucky horse barn. The barn belongs to Ashley's "Gram" and it is well over 100 years old. It was recently painted a very vibrant bright red. I hope in the years to come when they look at this painting they will remember the beautiful spring day when they began their life together-and know how much we love them both.

Wow, such stunning, vibrant colours! I'm sure your gift will truly be appreciated. I am itching to get back to my soft pastels ... maybe by the time my own daughter is married (right now she's almost 2) :-D

I love old barns! There's one out in the country in a pecan orchard near my in-laws house that I hope to paint one day. It will be challenging because it is very shady. My attempts to photograph it have not been successful!

Beautiful job!! I wish I was getting this gift....the complimentary colors really do this composition justice. Kudos on the architechtural aspects, as well. I can't do it to save my own life...

Nicely, nicely done....
