But.... I am getting looser and sometimes I can do good things pretty quickly - I only spent about 2 1/2 hours on the Chicago Bean - I liked how that turned out -
I am doing much more art now -- and I have come to realize I probably will never have wonderful sketch books or Journals - I'll just have the messy good and bad mixed up drawings and sketches with messy writing -
but then my goal has never been to become a good journaler - I just want to learn to draw better, faster and have more fun doing it - and that is happening.
Thank you Delph (aka Kazumiwannabe) for the reference photo as you can see this 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" watercolor sketch is based extremely loosely on this lovely photo. - I am still learning how to use the water colors - and these little bushes were my practice for tonight I think they turned out better than my landscape - but I am allowing myself to learn and not be too self critical - Next --- Liz's chicken Dusty

Hmmmmmmm is the kind of thing I do! What beautiful work you have. Self criticism can be really destructive. Don't doubt your talent.

Gorgeous Bushes! That landscape is pretty too. Just keep working, style will come when you least expect it.
You've got plenty of style lady! And I don't wanna hear anything different! LOL! That inner critic is the most evil thing ever. There's not a day that goes by that I don't have this very thought. Whether when I was in photography, graphic design, etc. Your work is stupendous. Quit comparing yourself to others (i.e. journaling) because that is the worst thing any of us can do (but don't tell anyone, I do the same thing). You've got style, variety, and most of all Perseverance. "The creator made us creative. Our Creativity is our gift from God. Accepting this bargain is the beginning of true self acceptance."-Julia Cameron. One of the MANY quotes I have in my unfancy journal to remind my inner critic to just be quiet. And BTW...Love the bushes!
I love what you did with the landscape! It's beautiful, like I wanted my photo to be ; )! Thanks! The bushes are great, too. Nature is hard to draw, I try sometimes, a little... to me it's the most difficult, maybe.
And I think you've got style, too, your style, but maybe you can't see it because you're in the center of it and searching for something else? I feel like you describe, a lot, about journaling and having neat sketchbooks : ) but never mind, we're having fun and improving, no?
